What are Mini Dental Implants?

Curious about mini dental implants?

Mini dental implants are also known as denture-stabilization implants. Their purpose is to provide support to upper, lower, and partial dentures to help prevent them from shifting and falling out.

Mini dental implants are small titanium posts that are inserted into the jawbone. The base of the post naturally bones to the bone, acting as a root structure. The top of the titanium post has a small ball, which fits into an opening on the underside of the denture, like a ball-and-socket. For a complete upper or lower denture, four posts are generally needed.

This procedure is minimally invasive and can completely change the way you feel about your dentures! Mini implants firmly holds dentures properly in place so you can speak and eat with more confidence.

Additional Benefits

Mini dental implants also prevent excessive bone wearing from dentures sliding back and forth across the gums. They give structure to gums as well, slowing the rate at which the gums recede. Mini dental implants are often more cost effective and require less recovery time.

Because mini implants are smaller, there is less of a health concern for patients who may be worried about bone loss. Conventional implants measure about 3.7mm, while mini implants are only 3 mm. More patients are eligible for mini implants than traditional ones because of the smaller size.

I received dentures at another office. But was told I had to wait 7 to 9 months to get implants. Was wondering how long a person had to wait for your implants. Thanks!

      Hi Roxanna,

I hope all is well. It hard to answer your question without seeing you. Whether we do the implants right away or wait depends on a lot of factors such as if you have severe infection or require bone grafting or if you have any other health issues. But for most of our patients we can place implants after extractions. I hope that helps.
If you are interested we are doing free consult ( X-rays and Doctor exam), then we can tell you exactly when we could do the implants ( either right away or wait). It will NOT COST you anything for consultation. Call us 636-220-1506 if you have further questions.
